Sure, as a remodeling pro, you’ve got the skills to turn something hum drum into something that wows your clients. But do you have everything your clients are looking for? What turns good remodelers into great remodelers? Here are a few tips:
1. Show you’re honest. People are hanging on even tighter to their money these days, and if they’re going to spend it on a remodeling job, they want to know they’re dealing with someone honest who’s not going to take them for the proverbial ride. It can be easy to up-sell someone on a product or material they don’t really need, but you’re only hurting (more…)
You can’t put cedar panels and planks everywhere, but with small cedar products, you can still protect your clothes and linens while they’re in storage boxes, drawers or wardrobes. There’s not much point in protecting your in season clothes with cedar if you’re going to place out of season items in a box in the attic where bugs and critters can gnaw holes in your clothes and the musky smell of mold and mildew can seep in. Before storing clothes, be sure to wash and dry them well at home or have them professionally laundered. (more…)

“GREEN, GREEN, GREEN!” It’s everywhere you look these days. Go green. Be environmental. Love the planet. It’s all well and good, but you’re just trying to get through the workday and get your jobs done. Whether you’re a remodeler, an interior designer or a decorator, the benefits of going green for your clients (and your business) are increasing. We know – you don’t have time to think about what’s for lunch, much less how to “go green” in your daily jobs.
But you need to. And here’s why: (more…)
Even if you can’t line an entire closet with cedar planks or panels, there are easy ways to use cedar to protect your keepsakes. Many of us have treasured family keepsakes from weddings or christenings made of delicate fibers such as angora, lace or silk. It can be difficult to find room in your house to store these items, especially when closets never seem to be big enough to hold everything we need. And since Mawmaws generally have many different people to leave her old cedar chest to, it’s not likely that ALL of us were lucky enough to inherit it. So how to “make do?” (more…)
Wool is the most popular fabric for finer men’s suits and women’s business clothing. Structured women’s suits have made a comeback, costing upward of $700 at stores. And, loose-knit sweaters in mohair and cashmere remain popular. In fact, the U.S. sheep industry produced 46 million pounds of wool in just one year. That’s a lot of suits and sweaters!
Woolen garments are a great investment. Since wool fibers resist pilling, snagging and breaking, they typically outlast synthetics. Furthermore, since wool fibers are naturally elastic, woolen garments don’t wrinkle, bag or sag out of shape. (more…)
The benefits of cedar are not “old wives’ tales.” In fact, many homeowners today are rediscovering the wisdom of their grandmother who had a cedar chest to protect her “valuables.” At CedarSafe, we know she was ahead of her time and absolutely correct. However, only Aromatic Eastern Redcedar is scientifically proven to repel pests, such as roaches, silverfish and moths. That’s why we only produce 100% Aromatic Eastern Redcedar closet linings to protect your valuable possessions. (more…)
You know that cedar repels bugs and keeps your clothes and accessories safe from little critters, but just WHAT are you avoiding when you install cedar closets? In short – holey clothes.
Cedar has been shown to be effective in repelling moths, roaches and silverfish – not exactly the types of visitors you want invading your closets. Synthetic fibers can resist these critters, but if your closet is home to garments made of natural fibers – wool, linen or silk – an unprotected closet may mean that your favorite sweater is bound for the garbage can.
